Palmeiras are active in the market during the World Cup break, prioritising a holding midfielder for the rest of the season, with former Flamengo player Vinicius Souza again under consideration.
According to Gazeta Esportiva, Abel Ferreira’s side are seeking to bolster the defensive area of midfield and have not entered advanced talks with any target.
The leading target is Danilo, the Botafogo midfielder. Meanwhile, Vinicius Souza could return to the club’s shortlist after interest in January this year.
Vinicius Souza plays for Wolfsburg, who were relegated to Germany’s second tier. That situation means the Brazilian could be available from this month, and his name is gaining traction among domestic clubs.
Corinthians and Atlético-MG have also shown interest previously, but no deal progressed and he stayed in Europe. Clubs in Türkiye are also monitoring the ex-Flamengo midfielder.
