Palmeiras training: Giay and Marlon Freitas join first session as Vitor Roque steps up rehab | OneFootball

Palmeiras trained on Thursday morning at the Academia de Futebol, continuing their mid-season schedule. It marked the first on-field session for Giay and Marlon Freitas.

According to Globo.com, the pair reported back on Wednesday, one week after the planned start to the inter-season period. Giay was granted extra time off after staying with Argentina's delegation through the World Cup's opening phase, while Marlon Freitas was absent to resolve personal matters.

Both completed medical and fitness assessments in the previous session, then joined the main group this morning. Giay described the experience with Argentina as a source of pride and said two matches there were valuable for him and the national team. He added that he stays in close contact with Flaco López, called him on arrival at the club, and is pleased he recently got minutes and is enjoying himself, saying López deserves it.

Another positive for Palmeiras was Vitor Roque's recovery. As in recent days, the forward took part in a portion of the warm-up with the squad and did not feature in the training game against Mauaense. Health and performance coordinator Daniel Gonçalves said Roque is progressing after ankle surgery, is in the transition phase on the pitch with physical and ball work, but has not rejoined full training and there is no expectation of that in the coming days, adding they will proceed with caution.

After circulation and finishing drills, the staff led a specific tactical exercise with the pitch divided vertically.
