West Ham United played out a disappointing goalless draw against Everton in Saturday’s Premier League game at the London Stadium.
It was a brilliant opportunity for Julen Lopetegui to relieve some pressure off him, but he failed to lead his side to victory.
The result now means the scrutiny is back on the 58-year-old who has yet to convince he is the right man for the job.
The Hammers produced a dismal performance in front of their home crowd, with no quality, pace or energy on display.
Crysencio Summerville was the only bright spark for West Ham, as he was a threat down the left and had an effort bounce back off the woodwork.
Danny Ings also drew two fine saves from Jordan Pickford, but it was a disappointing display overall.
Lucas Paqueta was especially poor, as he couldn’t create much in the final third.
He lost possession on an incredible 19 occasions and won just three of his 14 total duels.
The 27-year-old registered zero tackles and interceptions but made three clearances. He had 86 touches in the game and completed 50 of his 62 passes.
Paqueta, who currently earns £150,000-a-week at the London Stadium, has consistently been poor this season and needs to be dropped from the team.
The Brazilian’s performances were far from satisfactory in previous matches against Nottingham Forest, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, but Lopetegui continues to pick him.
Paqueta has started ten Premier League matches this season, scoring twice.
