Leeds United have agreed a new contract with captain Ethan Ampadu, keeping him at Elland Road until the summer of 2030.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, chairman Paraag Marathe told local media in London that Ampadu has signed an extension and the paperwork is complete.
Talks began at the start of the year, with his existing deal due to run to 2027. Leeds held an option for an extra year, but his Premier League form and off-field leadership made securing his long-term future a priority.
Marathe said Ampadu was instrumental across the season and a leader on and off the pitch, adding that finalising his contract is an important first step for the upcoming window.
Ampadu joined in the summer of 2023 as one of the first signings in the push for promotion, captained the side to the Championship title, then played a major role in preserving top flight status last season. The 62-cap Wales international has already made 126 appearances for the club despite suffering two serious knee injuries in his second campaign. Farke has often called him the club's most important player, and he won both the Players' Player of the Year and Player of the Year awards at Elland Road's end-of-season ceremony.
