Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe has written to supporters reflecting on Premier League survival, a kept spending pledge and plans for a carefully managed summer window. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, he believes the process will take three seasons before Leeds can operate like an established top-flight side.
The final table confounded pre-season forecasts, with Leeds comfortably 14th. Unlike recent newcomers, Leeds and Sunderland both stayed up, the Black Cats took 54 points to finish 7th and claim Europa League football, while Burnley went down with 22.
Marathe credited Daniel Farke for steering the team to mid-table safety, eight points clear of relegated West Ham. He also thanked supporters for turning Elland Road into a fortress, Leeds collected 32 points at home.
He highlighted landmark moments, including a first league win at Old Trafford since 1981 and a first FA Cup semi-final since 1987.
Looking ahead, Marathe said recruitment will be strategic and disciplined, shaped by the incoming Squad Cost Ratio rules rather than Profit and Sustainability Rules. He noted the club had spent every penny possible, as promised, to win promotion and remain in the Premier League, and that there will be arrivals and departures.
Remaining in the top flight, he added, allows continued growth on and off the pitch. Citing the global fanbase, commercial opportunities, a stadium expansion project and a world-class football operation, he expressed confidence about what comes next for Leeds.
