Inter Milan have decided on Parma coach Cristian Chivu to be their next coach.
The Romanian is not necessarily a coach with extensive experience within the senior game.
However, Chivu has a long association with Inter. He spent six years at the club as a player, before coaching at various youth team levels.
Then, Chivu has impressed with the job that he has done keeping Parma in Serie A. When he arrived, the Emilian club were teetering on the edge of relegation from the top flight.

As far as how Inter moved for Chivu, Parma CEO Federico Cherubini stated that “Inter did everything totally correctly.”
“They told us that they wanted to negotiate with Chivu,” he continued.
“We’d already said that we had a unilateral option to extend his contract. But we didn’t want to do that.”
“Extending his contract unilaterally didn’t make sense,” explained the Parma executive.
“We had to meet with Cristian first. To understand whether the conditions were there to continue.”
“And they weren’t,” he continued.
“With mutual satisfaction at what we’ve achieved over the past few months, we wish Cristian a great journey,” Parma CEO Cherubini declared.
Then, the Parma CEO also gave an update on the future of reported Inter and Napoli target Ange-Yoan Bonny.
“He has a lot of clubs interested in him,” said Cherubini of the French striker.
“We certainly won’t stand in the way of negotiations.”
“But it will be a tough negotiation,” the executive added. “Respecting the needs of a club like Parma.”
