Pedrinho rift with Vasco vice-president widens as governance council changes | OneFootball

Vasco’s power struggle intensified last week, with former board members Felipe Carregal and Sílvio Almeida removed from the club’s governance council, and general vice-president Renato Brito stripped of administrative duties.

According to Globo.com, the Conselho de Governança, Integridade e Compliance also changed leadership, as Manoel Cordeiro, who had asked to leave, was dismissed as council president and Marcelo Macedo, VP for relations with the SAF, known as Tangerina, took over on an interim basis.

Brito is understood to have lost influence with the current hierarchy, and Pedrinho and his allies are said to no longer trust the second general vice-president. He had been part of the G5 - CRVG alongside four directors dismissed last month, a group viewed as dissident.

After leaked messages from that group, exchanged following Pedrinho’s court-ordered suspension, Brito was exposed to senior figures and the leadership severed ties with all its members.

Brito said the screenshot was taken out of context, adding the group has existed since August 2025 to discuss CRVG management. He said he flagged disagreements privately to the president, felt wronged, and remains available to cooperate.

Separately, the São Januário redevelopment has seen little recent progress, with work halted while the club seeks to sell development rights. The working budget now stands at R$ 800 million, up from an initial R$ 500 million, amid higher construction costs since the original plan. Naming rights are viewed as the main complementary revenue, with other avenues not ruled out.
