Spain is still celebrating reaching the World Cup final after Pedro Porro’s decisive goal. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the most affecting reaction came on television, where his grandfather Antonio Sauceda wept as he reflected on his grandson’s long road to the elite.

Antena 3’s 'Y Ahora Sonsoles' connected live with Sauceda, who said Porro spent much of his childhood under his grandparents’ care because his parents worked long hours.

Recalling the total dedication of his late wife, he broke down on air, saying he would give his life for her to have seen this moment.

With pride in his voice, he stressed that Porro’s character matters more to him than sporting achievements, adding that his greatest wish is for his grandson to thrive because he is, in his view, a good grandson and a good person.

From another location, Eva Sauceda, mother of the national team full-back, joined the segment to comfort him, gently asking him not to cry. He later joked that the media scrum outside his home is unsettling his quiet routine, but said his happiness for Porro comes first and that he would do whatever is needed for his grandson.
