Pep Guardiola’s summer exit from Manchester City ends a 10-year reign and reshapes the Premier League’s longevity picture, nudging Leeds United’s Daniel Farke into an elite group. Arsenal’s title-winning manager Mikel Arteta now becomes the longest-serving active boss.

Leeds Live notes the pair have been close since meeting in 2019.

Farke has described Guardiola as the best of their generation and the game’s most influential modern coach, saying he has consistently stayed ahead of the curve. He estimated roughly 20 trophies in 10 years and said the City great has won everything. If the timing feels right to Guardiola, he added, it remains a sad day for those who love football.

Arteta has been in post for more than six years and previously worked as Guardiola’s assistant at City. With Andoni Iraola leaving Bournemouth and Guardiola departing, Farke climbs the list of longest-serving managers at their current Premier League clubs.

The Leeds boss has not yet reached the three-year mark but now sits inside the top six for time spent at their clubs. This reflects service at each club, not years in the division.

Marco Silva is second at Fulham, nearing five years, with Eddie Howe about 130 days behind at Newcastle United. Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna follows at around four-and-a-half years, then Aston Villa’s Unai Emery, before Farke, who is about a month from three years.

Farke’s contract has 12 months to run and supporters want the 49ers to offer a new deal. That call awaits this summer.
