Sky Sports reports that Pep Guardiola has received a two-match touchline ban after being cautioned against Newcastle on Saturday. The Manchester City manager was booked in the FA Cup tie.
It was his sixth yellow card of the season, which triggers a two-match ban under regulations introduced this season. Managers are banned for one match for each set of three cautions, with a two-match penalty at six.
He will still be permitted on the bench for the Carabao Cup final on 22 March against Arsenal, as EFL and National League play-off semi-finals and finals, plus the finals of the FA Cup, EFL Cup and EFL Trophy, are exempt from automatic technical-area bans for accumulated cautions.
Guardiola will therefore be absent from the touchline for City’s Premier League game against West Ham on Saturday and for the FA Cup quarter-final on the first weekend of April.
City beat Newcastle 3-1 in that match.
