With his dream goal against Brazil at the World Cup, Ismael Saibari has once again underscored why FC Bayern is so eager to sign him. However, it wasn’t just the Moroccan himself who sparked conversation after the game, but also a former Bayern pro. Ivan Perisic couldn’t resist taking a little dig at Munich.

FC Bayern is working flat out to sign Ismael Saibari. The attacking midfielder from PSV Eindhoven is considered one of Vincent Kompany’s top targets and has been in concrete talks with the German record champions for weeks.

The Munich club is reportedly already in agreement with the player. The main sticking point remains the transfer fee.

While Bayern is trying to keep the transfer fee below the 50 million euro mark if possible, PSV continues to demand a significantly higher total package.

It was precisely during this phase that Saibari provided the perfect self-promotion at the World Cup.

In Morocco’s surprising 1-1 draw against record World Cup champions Brazil, the 25-year-old emerged as one of the most standout players on the field. With a spectacular chip over Alisson, Saibari scored the opening goal for the North Africans and provided one of the tournament’s most spectacular moments so far.

From PSV’s perspective, this performance should further strengthen their negotiating position. Every strong performance on the world’s biggest soccer stage gives the Dutch club more ammunition to maintain their high demands.

Ivan Perišić also seems to be following the developments with particular interest. The former Bayern pro now plays alongside Saibari at PSV Eindhoven and knows his teammate’s qualities inside out.

After the Brazil match, the Croatian made a humorous comment. Under an Instagram post about Saibari and his possible future at FC Bayern, Perisic commented with a laughing emoji: “70 million + 10 million bonus.”

The comment quickly drew attention. Perisic was obviously alluding to the ongoing negotiations between Bayern and PSV. While recent reports had mentioned demands in the range of around 60 million euros, the Croatian promptly upped the total to 80 million euros.

Of course, the statement wasn’t meant seriously.

Nevertheless, the reaction shows that speculation surrounding a possible move to Bayern has long been a major topic even within the PSV squad.

Bayern remains optimistic

Despite all the jokes and public comments, talks between the clubs are still ongoing. According to consistent media reports, progress has already been made, even if a final agreement has yet to be reached.

In Munich, the club remains optimistic that the deal can be successfully concluded in the coming days.

Saibari himself has already made his desire to transfer clear and is said to remain firmly determined to play for FC Bayern in the future.

Until then, however, every strong World Cup performance by the Moroccan is likely to keep the discussions about his market value going—and possibly lead to more humorous comments from Ivan Perisic.
