Manchester United Women goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce continued her fine season with a clean sheet in the United States’ 3-0 victory over China.
The American made her debut in April for her national team and has been in sensational form for United in this campaign.
Tullis-Joyce has clearly impressed her teammates as she was voted the club’s Players’ Player of the Year in her first season as United’s number one.
She played the entire 90 minutes and made two saves in the match.
Tullis-Joyce was called into action after 26 minutes when the Chinese broke forward on the counter attack but she was well positioned to block the effort.
The rest of the match was a relative breeze for United’s keeper as her side dominated their opponents.
She was excellent with her feet, completing 96% of her passes and three out of her four long balls.
The 28 year old will hope to get another cap under her belt when the Americans welcome Jamaica to St Louis on Tuesday evening (Wednesday morning UK time).
United’s energetic midfielder Hinata Miyazawa was also in action as Japan lost 1-3 to Brazil.
She played 89 minutes of the encounter and completed 81% of her passes.
The Japanese international had one key pass in the match but it unfortunately did not result in a goal for her side.
Miyazawa had one effort on goal but her shot was blocked by an efficient Brazilian defence.
She also completed two out of her four ground duels and lost her only aerial battle in the match.
The 25 year old worked hard defensively, making three clearances and completing one tackle.
The Japanese national team will take on the Brazilians once again on Monday night (Tuesday morning UK time).
