Sunderland reached the fourth round of the FA Cup after a 1-1 draw over 120 minutes and a 3-0 shootout win at Everton on Saturday.
According to Sunderland Echo, the player ratings reflected a resilient display, with goalkeeper Robin Roefs top of the pile after an outstanding shootout showing.
Roefs guessed correctly for James Garner’s late penalty but could not keep it out, then held his nerve to save all three Everton efforts in the shootout to earn nine.
Trai Hume conceded the stoppage-time spot-kick, considered a soft call, and could feel unfortunate, though he defended solidly overall and was rated six.
Nordi Mukiele impressed, forcing a superb first-half save from Jordan Pickford with an acrobatic volley. He was strong after the break but lost the ball before the penalty incident, taking seven.
Luke O'Nien was excellent throughout, composed in possession and dominant in his duel with Beto. He capped it with a brilliant penalty and received eight.
