Pierre Sage addresses Robin Risser’s Lens future amid Newcastle links | OneFootball

Robin Risser is being linked with a move away from RC Lens. Pierre Sage has now addressed the goalkeeping situation at the club.

Sacha Tavolieri understands that Newcastle United have made initial contact with Lens regarding a move for Risser, who has impressed since making the move from RC Strasbourg Alsace in the summer. With Lucas Chevalier demoted at Paris Saint-Germain, the Lens goalkeeper is under consideration for the France national team ahead of this summer’s World Cup.

His future will have a big bearing on that of Hervé Koffi, who is having an exceptional season out on loan at SCO Angers. However, his reintegration at Lens over the summer will not only depend on his form between now and the end of the campaign. 

“Koffi is having an exceptional season, which isn’t a surprise given the information that I was given about his level, notably when he was in Belgium,” said Sage in a pre-match press conference. 

He continued, “For next season, he is, of course, a Lens player, but we are also very happy with Risser. And before being able to resolve the equation, we will have to take into account the presence – or not – of Risser.”

A fee of between €30-€40m would be enough to convince Lens to part with their young goalkeeper, Tavolieri added.
