Bodo/Glimt Punish Sluggish Tottenham Hotspur in Norway

Tottenham Hotspur escaped Bodø with a 2-2 draw that felt more like a reprieve than a reward. Against a vibrant Bodo/Glimt side, Thomas Frank’s men were second best for long stretches and only salvaged a point thanks to a late, fortunate deflection. Spurs remain unbeaten in their Champions League group, yet the performance raised more questions than it answered.

Hauge’s Brilliance Highlights Bodo/Glimt’s Edge

Bodo/Glimt were on the front foot from the outset, roared on by a boisterous home crowd inside the Aspmyra Stadion. Their pressing unsettled Tottenham’s back line and they looked the more cohesive unit. Kasper Hogh’s missed first-half penalty briefly spared Spurs’ blushes, but Jens Hauge’s superbly struck brace soon restored a sense of justice.

The Norwegian winger’s first was a precise low finish beyond Guglielmo Vicario, while his second showcased his sharp movement and composure. The hosts could have been out of sight before Micky van de Ven’s header pulled one back for Spurs against the run of play.

Late Fortune Masks Spurs’ Struggles

Tottenham’s equaliser owed more to good luck than quality. In the dying moments, substitute Archie Gray’s shot was parried by the Bodo/Glimt goalkeeper, rebounded off Jostein Gundersen and trickled into the net. Spurs celebrated but it could not disguise an evening of lethargic build-up play and too many individual errors.

Thomas Frank, still settling into life at Spurs, cut a frustrated figure on the touchline. His side lacked balance in midfield, and the front line failed to provide a consistent threat. With the north London club chasing trophies this season, such lacklustre displays will not go unnoticed.

Player Ratings for Tottenham Hotspur vs Bodo/Glimt

Guglielmo Vicario – 5Helpless for both goals but unconvincing when handling early efforts. Distribution remains a concern.

Pedro Porro – 5Delivered a fine cross for Van de Ven’s goal yet defensively frail, particularly for Hauge’s second strike.

Kevin Danso – 4Struggled throughout, never settled on the ball and missed the composure usually offered by Cristian Romero.

Micky van de Ven – 6Scored Spurs’ first and recovered well after a rash challenge early in the second half. Looked steadier than most.

Djed Spence – 5Caught out repeatedly by Bodo/Glimt’s wide attacks and summed up his night by tripping during a dribble.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 4Needlessly conceded the penalty that Hogh missed. Offered little influence going forward despite some advanced positions.

Pape Matar Sarr – 4Lacked his usual drive and energy on his return to the starting XI. Appeared short of match sharpness.

Lucas Bergvall – 5Made one powerful surge to create a chance for Richarlison but otherwise anonymous in midfield.

Brennan Johnson – 3Failed to impact the match from his preferred right flank and fortunate to last an hour before substitution.

Richarlison – 3Missed an early sitter and failed to hold up possession. Looked off the pace throughout.

Wilson Odobert – 5Provided some spark in attack, unlucky to hit the woodwork late on but still lacked composure in the final third.

Substitutes:

Xavi Simons – 5Entered for Bergvall but contributed little beyond a few forward runs.

Mohammed Kudus – 6Physical presence after replacing Johnson and supplied a fine cross that Odobert should have converted.

Joao Palhinha – 5Brought energy in midfield without truly shifting the momentum Spurs needed.

Destiny Udogie – 6Injected urgency down the flank and forced a late corner with his direct running.

Archie Gray – 6Played a vital role in the equaliser when his effort led to the own goal.

Manager: Thomas Frank – 5Struggled to impose a clear tactical structure. Changes brought late energy but not enough control.

Tottenham Hotspur have work to do to ensure performances catch up with results. Bodo/Glimt’s intensity exposed Spurs’ frailties, particularly in midfield and defence. If Frank is to steer his side deep into the competition, improved consistency and greater cutting edge in attack will be essential.
