Liverpool’s unbeaten run reached nine games, but this 2-2 draw at Fulham carried the sting of a defeat. Leading twice inside stoppage time, Arne Slot’s side were denied by Harrison Reed’s 97th-minute thunderbolt, a goal that will replay in the minds of Reds supporters far longer than the point gained. Cody Gakpo looked to have sealed victory with a 94th-minute back-post finish from a Jeremie Frimpong cross, only for Reed to respond with a moment of magic.
The visitors were forced into a familiar narrative arc: sluggish early control, self-inflicted defensive wounds, and recovery sparked by moments of individual quality. Former Red Harry Wilson fired Fulham ahead in the first half, Raul Jimenez dragging defenders into uncomfortable decisions before Wilson’s shot rattled the bar. After the break, Florian Wirtz’s well-timed, and perfectly measured finish levelled matters at 1-1, Liverpool’s composure briefly emphasised, before old habits resurfaced at the worst possible time.
