Lazio came away empty-handed on a joyless evening at the almost empty Stadio Olimpico, suffering a 0-2 defeat to Atalanta.

The Biancocelesti came close to scoring on a few occasions, but two of their efforts were denied by the post. On the other hand, the Orobici were slightly more fortunate than the visitors, taking the lead from the spot converted by Ederson, and then adding a second through Nicola Zalewski.

Here are our player ratings for Lazio, who have been virtually ruled out of the Top Six race after being beaten at home by Atalanta.

Lazio XI (4-3-3)

Ivan Provedel – 5

The Lazio goalkeeper commited a naive mistake early in the match as he made an ill-advised exit that almost resulted in a goal. While neither goal was his fault, perhaps he could have done better on Zalewski’s shot.

Adam Marusic – 5.5

It wasn’t necessarily a poor outing from the Montenegrin veteran, but he did allow Lorenzo Bernasconi to evade him early in the match, and could have been more clinical when two scoring chances came his way.

Mario Gila – 6

The Spaniard did well to keep Nikola Krstovic at bay, but the discomfort in his knee returned to haunt him, cutting his evening short.

Oliver Provstgaard – 6.5

A solid performance at the back from the young Dane, who filled in admirably for the suspended Alessio Romagnoli. Produced a wonderful goal-line clearance with his head to deny Krstovic in the first half.

Nuno Tavares – 6

The Portuguese full-back continues to show improved form compared with his early-season woes, but his delivery was hit and miss.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru – 5.5

It was surprising to see the Nigerian on the field until the end of the match given his limited impact, but it goes to highlight Maurizio Sarri’s lack of options.

Danilo Cataldi – 6

The Lazio captain of the night was unfortunate to have the ball hit his arm while on the slide. Did well in the early stages, but lost his head after Zalewski’s celebration.

Kenneth Taylor – 6.5

The 23-year-old workhorse didn’t deserve to be on the losing side. Prevailed in the Dutch battle against Marten de Roon, won back possession on countless occasions, and came close to scoring the opener, but was denied by the post.

Gustav Isaksen – 6

The Danish winger was Lazio’s standout performer in the first half, giving nightmares to Honest Ahanor, who was prematurely hauled off. However, he found less joy when Sead Kolasinac was introduced, and was too casual against Zalewski on the second goal.

Daniel Maldini – 6

The versatile attacker displayed some fine dribbling against his parent club, but misplayed too many passes. He looked more at ease in the second half when switching to the left wing or even when he briefly played as an attacking midfielder.

Tijjani Noslin – 6

A mixed bag from the Dutch striker who was wasteful in possession, but also had his moments against Giorgio Scalvini. Came close to scoring with a header, but was denied by Marco Carnesecchi’s diving save.

Patric – 6

The Lazio veteran didn’t put a foot wrong after replacing Gila at the interval.

Nicolo Rovella – 6.5

Lazio instantly improved following the Regista’s introduction, as he effortlessly picked up his teammates with his clever passes, but it was too little too late to rescue anything out of the match.

Petar Ratkov – 6

The Serbian bomber was unfortunate not open his account for the club as his header was denied by the post. However, he scuffed a glorious chance in added time, but he couldn’t properly connect with the ball.
