A player who Chelsea have recently frozen out of training and games, is now back in the frame and could even play this coming Thursday.
The Blues face Heidenheim in the next game in their Conference League campaign this coming Thursday evening, and there is an opportunity for some fresh faces to play.
The likes of academy stars such as Tyrique George, Shim Mhueka and Sam Rak-Sakyi could allo get a chance to at least appear on the bench this week and get a rare chance in the senior setup.
But everyone was recently left wondering what on earth happened with right back Josh Acheampong, who would have been having opportunities in these games as well.
Well, as recently reported, he was frozen out of training and games at all levels with Chelsea until he agrees to sign a new contract with the club. It was super harsh by the club, but maybe it has now worked?
Acheampong to get the nod this week?
For the first time since this all came out, the young defender is now back in training, as reported by The Athletic today.
He is training with the first team group today ahead of the trip to Germany tomorrow night. And given the fact that Malo Gusto has not been spotted in training today, and Reece James is once again injured and now being linked to a move away from Chelsea, then this could be a chance for Enzo Maresca to start Acheampong in this game as the only available natural right back.
I’d be surprised if he started after all that has happened, but maybe at the very least a chance for some minutes off the bench this week. He’s certainly more than good enough.
This also might mean that he is about to sign a new contract extension at Chelsea too.
