Nottingham Forest‘s decision to sack Sean Dyche and replace him with Vitor Pereira has played into Leeds United‘s hands in the view of commentator Adam Pope.

Six points now separate four teams between 15th and 18th positions in the Premier League table, with West Ham currently sitting in the drop zone, but giving the other teams a run for their money.

There have been changes at the helm at two of the four clubs, with Nottingham Forest having just brought in their fourth manager of the season in the form of former Wolves boss Pereira.

The season at City Ground had started with Nuno Espírito Santo on the touchline.

Nottingham Forest then brought in Ange Postecoglou as a replacement, but he was eventually replaced by Dyche.

There have been no such changes at Elland Road, where Leeds have continued to trust Farke, despite Richard Keys claiming the club offered his job to Jose Mourinho in the summer.

Farke has impressed hugely in recent months, winning plaudits, with the German even prepared to change Leeds’ system when needed in games.

A big improvement from Nottingham Forest would potentially put Leeds at risk when it comes to the relegation battle, but Pope feels the Tricky Trees have made things worse for themselves.

He dubbed the decision to sack Dyche ‘mad’ and is of the view that given the form he had Forest in, the move plays into Leeds’ hands.

“The Dyche one is mad, whether you like Dyche or not about what he does, we looked at the form – his form was really good. I think he was eighth in the form table over the last six games”, Pope told the Don’t Go To Bed Just Yet podcast (28:51).

“They had drawn with Arsenal.

“I was listening to a Forest fan last night saying that they actually played rubbish against Wolves despite having 30-odd shots. But they didn’t lose the game.

They were poor at Elland Road, but I think that massively plays into Leeds’ hands and everyone else down at the bottom.

“Suddenly, I think Forest seem the most vulnerable, Spurs are not far away.”

Leeds beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 at Elland Road at the start of the month and the result appears to have been key to convincing the Tricky Trees to sack Dyche.

Forest then being held to a 0-0 draw by Wolves put the final nail in the coffin for the experienced manager.
