The Greens are set to welcome back a quartet of players ahead of their clash with The Dons

Plymouth Argyle boss Tom Cleverley is set to receive a major boost ahead of Saturday's clash with AFC Wimbledon at Home Park, with four of his senior players returning to the fold after respective injury, suspension and personal absences.

The quartet of Joe Edwards, Bradley Ibrahim, Alex Mitchell and Kornel Szucs are all expected to be among the Green Army's squad for this weekend's encounter, which is one Cleverley and his side will hope can fully kickstart their third tier campaign after an inconsistent opening two months of the season following relegation from the Championship.

Despite League One action still being on the agenda for some last week, Argyle were not one of those clubs as their away trip to Mansfield Town at Field Mill, originally scheduled for Saturday, October 11th, was postponed and will be rescheduled later in the 46-game season due to multiple international call-ups within Cleverley's squad.

As such, he and his chargers have had two weeks to mull over a frustrating 1-1 draw against fellow inconsistent performers Wigan Athletic last time out, as the returning Ryan Lowe and his Latics side struck eight minutes from time to take a share of the spoils back to the North West, with Fraser Murray cancelling out the in-form Argyle striker, Lorent Tolaj's penalty just 12 minutes previous.

Lady luck hasn't exactly been shining down on the Devon outfit upon their return to League One, with the newly-appointed Cleverley unable to fully utilise a settled lineup in his first 11 league encounters in the hotseat due to an array of injury blows that have aligned with, or followed, a major squad overhaul in the summer.

However, that is set to change ahead of the encounter with last season's League Two play-off victors.

Cleverley has recently been without the services of Szucs, Mitchell, Edwards and Ibrahim for multiple reasons in recent outings. However, it is expected that all four players to be involved in the 36-year-old's squad against the Dons.

Hungarian defender, Szucs, joined the club in August 2024 and has, so far, made 48 appearances for Argyle - seven of which have come in League One.

The versatile figure had been sidelined for the past five encounters across all competitions due to knee ligament damage. However, the 24-year-old is back in contention to play some form of a role against Johnnie Jackson's side at Home Park this weekend.

He will be joined by captain, Edwards and his midfield counterpart, Ibrahim, who have been absent from the past three and one league encounters respectively.

Edwards was shown a red card in the manic 3-2 success over Luton Town on September 13th, in which Cleverley was also sent to the stands, whilst Ibrahim missed the aforementioned 1-1 draw with Wigan last time out after receiving a fifth yellow card in the 4-0 rout at Burton Albion two weeks later.

Charlton Athletic loanee, Mitchell, will also be a welcome return to the squad after he missed Argyle's last outing due to personal reasons, with his presence giving Cleverley plenty of food for thought when it comes to his defensive selections.

All four returnees will be welcomed by the Argyle boss and their colleagues in the playing squad, as they all possess high-quality attributes that could be key in attaining an upsurge in form after a mixed start to the season.

That, in particular, applies to Ibrahim, who was lauded by Cleverley when discussing his recent suspension, stating that the three-goal playmaker was "one of the best players in the league," based on his prior form, which included a double at Kenilworth Road.

The aforementioned news comes whilst the likes of Tolaj and Owen Oseni remain bang in-form on the goalscoring front, as Plymouth go in search of a third home success of the campaign.

However, it will be no easy task against the South London side, who currently sit fifth after winning four of their past five games, as well as boasting the sixth-best away record in League One thus far.
