Liam Rosenior has bemoaned the mistakes made by Chelsea as he mentioned a poor decision by Moises Caicedo in the draw with Leeds.

Chelsea threw away a 2-0 lead at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening and had to settle for a 2-2 draw, as their four match winning streak came to an end.

Joao Pedro opened the scoring, before Cole Palmer doubled the lead from the penalty spot, but unfortunately the Blues hit the self destruct button.

Liam Rosenior on “poor” Moises Caicedo decision

Rosenior made changes to the team which beat Wolves 3-1 on Saturday, with Estevao and Josh Acheampong coming into the line-up.

Reece James was still absent, but Malo Gusto put in a good performance at right back, with the Blues playing some great football in the first half.

However, that wasn’t spoken about after the game, as Caicedo gave away a penalty which was converted by Lukas Nmecha, before Noah Okafor equalised after a comedy of defensive errors from Chelsea.

Despite that the Blues still had a golden opportunity to win the game in the last minute, but Palmer missed an open goal as he fired the ball over the bar.

Rosenior was left disappointed after the game, but bemoaned poor decision making as the reason the Blues dropped points.

“Two key moments in the game that we don’t take care of, we don’t stay calm,” he told his post match press conference.

“Moises Caicedo is a magnificent player, he’s been top for me. We make a poor decision. Actually, how the play gets there as well.

“We make a few poor decisions in terms of how we press in that moment and we give away a penalty when, like genuinely, I can’t remember Leeds having a shot or a moment in the game.”

Chelsea played some brilliant football

The Blues played some brilliant football especially in the first half, and Rosenior was disappointed not to be able to speak about that more.

“Some of our football, in possession, our press, our energy, was everything I wanted to see and that makes it even more of a bitter pill to swallow that we haven’t won the game.”

Up next for Chelsea is a trip to Hull City in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday night, which poses a different threat.
