First up, it's Amy Macdonald!

Scottish singer-songwriter Amy Macdonald’s gift for crafting positive, uplifting songs from relatable stories of triumphs, struggles and hope has made her one of the UK’s most beloved artists.

That talent has attracted a huge audience, leading to five albums which have gone Top 5 across Europe (including a #1 in the UK and two in Germany).

This summer sees Amy step into a new chapter with her sixth album, ‘Is This What You’ve Been Waiting For?’, previewed by the singles ‘Can You Hear Me?’, ‘Forward’ and the record’s title track.

Hi Amy. With no Scotland at the tournament, who will you be supporting at Euro 2025?

I’ll be supporting Germany at the tournament for a few reasons - I’ve got a lot of friends and fans in Germany and I spend so much time on tour there that I always want them to do well.

Also, my song ‘Is This What You’ve Been Waiting For?’ is the theme song of the Euros on the German TV broadcast, so really, I can’t support anyone else. I feel really honoured to have my song accompany all these amazing women!

If you had to choose one of your songs to inspire a team, which one would you pick?

I’d go with my new single ‘Can You Hear Me?’ It’s a big, bold and exciting disco-inspired track. It’s basically a rally call and will definitely get everyone into the zone before a big match.

The problem is they’ll probably have it in their head the entire time.

Which player are you most looking forward to watching and why at Euro 2025?

I’ve seen a lot of players to watch articles and every single one of them mentions the Captain of Germany - Giulia Gwinn. To be captain of your national team at 26-years-old is incredible and I’m really excited to see how she does.

Who is your all-time favourite women’s player?

In Scotland, Julie Fleeting is a legend. She really paved the way for so many footballers and now does TV punditry work and offers such great insight. She is Scotland’s most prolific goalscorer and won countless trophies throughout her career.

If you were a professional footballer, which position would you play and why?

I cannot ever see a world in which I would be a footballer - I’m terrified of the ball flying towards my head. However, if I woke up one morning and suddenly had footballing skills, then I’d love to be a striker. I’d probably be offside all the time because I’d be constantly trying to poach a goal.

Which nation could be the surprise package of the tournament?

I’ve seen a lot of people talking about the Netherlands. They always do quite well but nobody ever tips them. I think they’ve got some great players and this could be the tournament for them to shine.

Finally, who will win Euro 2025?

Germany.

Amy Macdonald’s new album ‘Is This What You’ve Been Waiting For?’ is set for release on Friday 11th July.
