Portugal secure sixth in UEFA coefficient at Netherlands’ expense | OneFootball

Portugal have secured sixth place in UEFA’s country coefficient at the expense of the Netherlands, according to L'Équipe.

The outcome follows a week of round of 16 first legs across the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference. Porto won 2-1 away to Stuttgart on Thursday in the Europa Conference League.

The Netherlands now have only one representative, AZ Alkmaar in the Europa Conference League, and even an AZ triumph would not close the gap. Portugal stand on 69.666 points, the Netherlands on 67.345.

France are and will remain fifth on 80.855, some distance behind Germany on 89.259.

The ranking will shape the 2027-28 season. Portugal will have six clubs in European competition, with the top two qualifying directly for the Champions League league phase and the third entering the third qualifying round, meaning three Champions League places.
