Portuguesa and Corinthians will share the ticket allocation equally for Sunday’s Campeonato Paulista quarter-final at Canindé, with 7,500 seats each. The FPF has scheduled the tie for 20:30.

UOL first reported the arrangement, which revives a set-up rarely seen in recent years.

Equal splits were common in São Paulo football until the early 2000s, then visiting allocations shrank and single-fan policies took hold in derbies between Corinthians, São Paulo, Santos and Palmeiras, and in Ponte Preta v Guarani.

Authorities do not class meetings with Portuguesa at the same risk level, despite the club long being viewed as the state’s fifth force. Behind the scenes, Corinthians backed staging the tie at Canindé and, with relations good, joint promotions are expected.

Of Corinthians’ share, the club have already bought about 7,000 to pass on to supporters. They had hoped to take 10,000, matching the allocation Palmeiras received for Portuguesa’s opening State match, but that request was not granted.

Formal confirmation is expected on Tuesday, with prices likely to be around R$ 160.
