European football will return to the City Ground on Thursday evening as Nottingham Forest take on Midtjylland.

Manager Ange Postecoglou has said that leading out Forest in the competition is a 'privilege' as he looks for a first win at the club.

"It's only natural whether it's players or anyone associated with the club, when we've been on the kind of run when we haven't won in a while, it becomes a bit more prevalent in people's minds," Postecoglou said to the media.

"But the whole group sees that we are making progress in terms of our football. We have to trust in that process and the results will come."

The Australian, who won the Europa League with Tottenham Hotspur last year, also talked about the different between the Premier League and Europe: "You've got to make sure you treat it as a separate entity. Sometimes, irrespective of what's happening in the league whether it's good, bad or otherwise.

"European competition challenges you in other ways because you meet opponents you don't really know very well, styles of play and players you're potentially not familiar with.

"If you are dismissive of that and assume that because they don't play in the same competition as yourself that they are somehow inferior, then you fall into a trap.

"In terms of preparation, we have to put a lot more detail into prep."

Moving on to Forest's position in Europe once again after so many years away, Postecoglou praised previous managers: "It's on the backs of guys like Coops [Steve Cooper] and Nuno [Espírito Santo] who have got us to this point, so I don't take that lightly, it is a privilege.

"But I'm looking forward to leading the club back into Europe fo the first time in 30 years, and hopefully having a campaign to remember. It's something this football club wants to do on a regular basis, every season."

Since taking over from Nuno Espírito Santo, Postecoglou's side have a record of two wins and three defeats in five games.
