Pradales warns UPN’s shirt row with Athletic is very dangerous | OneFootball

Imanol Pradales has condemned UPN over the dispute around Athletic’s new shirt, calling the tactic very dangerous. The lehendakari urged people not to give the party a platform and expressed full support for the club.

According to El Correo, he also said he likes the kit, which Athletic will debut on Saturday at the Santiago Bernabéu. The design adds an ikurriña shaped as the map of Euskal Herria, including Navarre, on the back of the collar.

UPN leaders attacked the change on Thursday, alleging Athletic had inserted a political, identity message. Party president Cristina Ibarrola called it institutionally controversial for placing Navarre in a political reality outside its framework, and demanded the debut be blocked.

The Government of Navarra, led by PSN, clarified the same day that it saw nothing legally questionable in the new shirt or the map element.

On Friday Pradales criticised the row as sterile and said UPN sought only confrontation and division. He noted the party had backing from PP and Vox.

He called on people not to fuel UPN’s attempt and reiterated his support and solidarity with Athletic.
