Manchester City and Premier League rivals have now found out the dates in which they will be able to do transfer business in the way of arrivals ahead of the 2026/27 season.
With incoming manager Enzo Maresca and sporting director Hugo Viana due to pair up at the Etihad Stadium in the coming weeks, clear boundaries were perhaps needed to map out the timing of their partial squad refresh.
Following an intense season where City narrowly missed out on reclaiming the Premier League title against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, the board are expected to work with intent during the closed-season to equip the new management with the necessary competitive personnel.
Among the names expected to be explored by Manchester City this summer is Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, who is believed to be preferring a move to the Etihad Stadium over other options such as Manchester United.
Now, as confirmed by the Premier League, the 2026 summer transfer window for English top-flight clubs will open on Monday 15 June, and close at 23:00 (UK) on Tuesday 1 September.
As for the 2027 winter transfer market, the mid-season opportunity to buy and sell players will begin on Friday 1 January and close at 23:00 (UK) on Monday 1 February.
Formal confirmation of deadlines shifts pressure onto the shoulders of Hugo Viana as he attempts to guide City into the unknown era of competing without Pep Guardiola as their manager for the first time in 10 years.
The club has also bid farewell to captain Bernardo Silva, leaving a significant void in the heart of Enzo Maresca’s projected system, while John Stones departure also opens up the possibility of a new name coming into the centre of defence.
Talk of potential arrivals in defence, midfield, and possibly the wide attacking roles will dominate conversation over the coming weeks, but equally as notable is the futures of existing stars including Rodri, Savinho, Nico Gonzalez, and Omar Marmoush to name a few.
