Chelsea are ready to up the ante in their pursuit of Alejandro Garnacho whilst simultaneously pushing for RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons.
According to The Guardian, Chelsea will ‘step up [their] efforts’ to sign the Manchester United wantaway after sanctioning the exits of Noni Madueke (Arsenal), Joao Felix (Al Nassr) and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – amongst other outgoings at Stamford Bridge this summer.
The deals, plus the £85 million boost they received through winning the Club World Cup, have put the Blues in a healthy financial position to facilitate the arrivals of their targets in the coming weeks. However, with clubs well aware that Chelsea have such funds in the bank, they’ll be holding out for the highest fees possible when doing business.

That should be the case for United, too.
It’s thought the Reds value their academy graduate in the region of £50m, although Chelsea are unwilling to fork out such a fee.
INEOS must take into account Garnacho’s credentials at this stage of his career and stand firm in their demands; at just 21 years old, the forward has accumulated 144 first-team appearances, scoring 26 goals and assisting a further 22.
He has won both the FA Cup and League Cup in red, as well as the Copa America with Argentina, for whom he’s earned eight senior caps thus far.
Garnacho is angling for the move himself, having made it clear to his other suitors that he’s only interested in a transfer within the Premier League.
The livewire winger – hailed as a ‘phenomenal’ talent – joined United in 2020 from Atletico Madrid’s academy for a fee of £420,000. He made his debut aged 18 years old in April 2022 under Ralf Rangnick and, by 2023/2024, had become an integral starter during Erik ten Hag’s reign.
Yet, a fallout with current boss Ruben Amorim has resulted in his Old Trafford tenure now on the cusp of ending prematurely and sourly.
