The Premier League is guaranteed to have five qualification spots for the Champions League next season.

Finishing fifth in the Premier League this season is now certain to be enough to qualify for Europe’s elite tournament.

There could be as many as seven English teams in the Champions League next season, however.

If Liverpool and Aston Villa win the Champions League and Europa League respectively, and finish outside the top five, they would join the top-five sides in the Champions League.

How could 11 teams get into Europe?

If this scenario plays out, and the FA Cup is won by a team who has already secured qualification for the Champions League through the Premier League, then eighth and ninth would qualify for the Europa League and tenth would book their place in the Conference League.

And if Crystal Palace finish in the bottom half of the Premier League but win the Conference League, they could become the 11th English team in Europe next season by reaching the Europa League.
