According to the BBC, the Premier League Key Match Incidents Panel unanimously concluded Gabriel Gudmundsson should not have been sent off in Leeds United’s goalless draw at Crystal Palace, a ruling likely to further frustrate Daniel Farke.
Gudmundsson received a second yellow card on the stroke of half-time for a foul on Ismaila Sarr, shown by referee Thomas Bramall.
After the match, Farke argued Leeds had been harshly treated. He felt Bramall initially appeared to forget the first booking before issuing a second, and said the foul was debatable and the decision a clear mistake.
The panel judged there was only minimal contact and that the challenge was careless rather than clearly reckless.
VAR cannot currently review second yellow cards. That policy is set to change next season, with scope to rescind clearly wrong second bookings.
