Tottenham's defeat at Sunderland in Roberto De Zerbi's first match in charge plunged them into Premier League relegation peril while West Ham, Nottingham Forest and Leeds all helped their chances of survival by winning in matchday 32.

Wolves and Burnley will almost certainly be in the Championship next season - both are 1/500 to go down - and more than 10 points from safety, so we will limit our discussion to the four sides who are trying to avoid joining them.

Tottenham 17/20 to suffer shock relegation

Spurs are 17/20 on the Betfair Sportsbook to go down and two points from safety with six matches to play. A relegation that would have been unthinkable at the start of the season is now a 54% chance - more likely to happen than not - according to the market.

Last summer, Tottenham appointed Thomas Frank with the hope of improving dramatically on last season's 17th-place finish. Instead, they have been even worse in 2025/26, Franks was dismissed, Igor Tudor's disastrous reign lasted 44 days and now De Zerbi is tasked with keeping them up. Dropping out of the top flght - previously unthinkable given they were backed at a high of 250/1 this season - looks more likely with each game.

They may still get out of it but it will take a significant upturn in form. Spurs are the only Premier League side without a win in 2026, winning none of 14 games (D5 L9). It's their second-longest winless league run in their history, only having a longer stretch without a win between December 1934 and April 1935 (16 games).

West Ham 13/8 and out of the bottom three

West Ham climbed out of the relegation zone and pushed Spurs down to 18th by beating bottom club Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 on Friday. The East London side are 13/8 to be relegated after a victory that boosted their chances of surviving and their morale.

If Nuno Espirito Santo keeps West Ham up it will be arguably as impressive a feat as when he led Nottingham Forest to seventh last season. The Hammers have been building momentum after taking important points against Manchester United and Manchester City, as well as taking an unexpected win at Fulham.

Nuno would like his team to win more, and they still draw too many games at home, but the players look increasingly confident that they can climb away from danger.

Nottingham Forest out to 5/1 for drop

It has been a season of chaos for Nottingham Forest but fourth manager of the campaign Vitor Pereira appears to be steering them to safety. The Tricky Trees are out to 5/1 to be relegated and sit 16th in the table after a run of decent results which included a 3-0 win away to Tottenham. With six games to go they have a three point gap to 18th placed Spurs.

The caveat is is that they are the only team in the relegation battle who are still involved in European competition and Forest's Thursday night fixtures - they play Porto this week - could yet leave them drained for their Sunday assisgnments in the league.

Leeds drift to 16/1 for relegation after Old Trafford win

Monday night's 2-1 win over fierce rivals Manchester United was a huge moment for Leeds in part because it took them six points clear of the relegation zone with six to play. Beating Michael Carrick's in-form team could turn out to be the moment that Leeds' survival was all but assured.

Odds of 16/1 to be relegated certainly indicate we will be seeing the Yorkshire side in the top flight in 2026/27. If they can follow up with a win over Wolves at Elland Road this weekend, Daniel Farke's men will have safety well within their sights.
