Bryan Mbeumo: Third time’s a charm?

Manchester United are “expected” to make an improved bid for Bryan Mbeumo, according to Sky Sports News. The Red Devils have already had two offers, worth £55m and £62.5m respectively, rejected by Brentford. The Bees are said to want at least £65m, with most of the fee guaranteed.

While that is ongoing, United are still “exploring a deal for a striker”. Juventus brought up the possibility of selling Dusan Vlahovic to the Premier League side when the two clubs were discussing a deal for Jadon Sancho. United are also “keeping an eye on” Aston Villa centre-forward Ollie Watkins.

Meanwhile, claim that Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho have informed United they wish to leave the club this summer. Rashford’s shirt number, 10, has been given to new signing Matheus Cunha.

Kyle Walker close to Premier League switch

Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker is closing in on a move to Burnley, according to The Athletic. The 35-year-old has undergone a medical (per Sky Sports News) and will sign a two-year contract in the coming days. The deal will be worth up to £5m to City if bonuses are achieved.

Walker spent the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan, but the Italian outfit chose not to take up the option to make it a permanent move.

Newcastle make second Elanga bid

After their first bid of £45m was rejected outright by Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United have come in with an offer of £55m for Anthony Elanga, according to Sky Sports News.

However, Forest are said to value the winger at £60m and have “no desire to sell him”. That said, Elanga is “intrigued” by Eddie Howe’s project at St. James’ Park. Watch this space.

In other Forest news, Callum Hudson-Odoi’s representatives are in Athens to thrash out the terms of a new deal for the ex-Chelsea attacker, who is in the final year of his contract. Talks are said to be “positive and ongoing”, although a number of clubs in the Premier League and Serie A want to be “kept up to date with any developments”.

Meanwhile, Newcastle have made Atalanta centre-back Giorgi Scalvini a “top target” this summer, according to The Times.

Ben Jacobs reports that Gittens is in Philadelphia ahead of his move to Chelsea and will watch the side play Palmeiras in the quarter-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Borussia Dortmund confirmed on Thursday evening that the English winger will join the Blues after “all parties agreed to this deal” in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The statement added that contractual details need to be finalised.

“The talks with Chelsea were challenging, but ultimately we are pleased that we can most likely realize our financial ambitions and then have planning security,” said Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl.

Gittens will sign a seven-year contract at Chelsea, in a deal which could see Dortmund net up to €65m (£55.9m).

Coutinho and the long, slow goodbye

Aston Villa have confirmed that Philippe Coutinho has finally left the club on a permanent basis. Yes, he was still contracted to the club until this summer.

The Brazilian has joined Vasco da Gama, where he spent last season on loan. Now 33, Coutinho was Steven Gerrard’s big statement signing, initially on loan, in January 2022.

The former Liverpool star impressed in those first few months, but after the deal with Barcelona was made permanent, he wasn’t very good at all.

Palace submit bid

Crystal Palace have placed a bid for Ajax left-back Borna Sosa, according to The Athletic. The Eagles want to bring in competition for Tyrick Mitchell, but what does this mean for Ben Chilwell? The Chelsea man spent the latter half of last season on loan at Selhurst Park, but seemingly won’t be returning.

Meanwhile, Palace and Burnley are among the Premier League clubs interested in Napoli’s Jens Cajuste, according to Sky Sports News. The midfielder spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan with Ipswich Town.

Sunderland complete third summer signing

Noah Sadiki has joined Sunderland from Union Saint-Gilloise for an undisclosed fee, the club announced on Friday. The 20-year-old midfielder follows the arrivals of Enzo La Fee and Habib Diarra.

Milambo signs for Brentford

Brentford have completed the first signing of the Keith Andrews era. Antoni Milambo has joined the Bees on a five-year contract following his move from Feyenoord for an initial transfer fee of £15.4m (€18m), plus £3.4m (€4m) in add-ons.

Andrews was full of praise for the 20-year-old. “I love the way that Antoni takes the ball and drives; he has the ability to go past players and he’s a goal threat. He will complement the midfielders we have in the building.

“Now it’s just a case of getting him used to the intensity and rhythm of the Premier League and our own intensity levels. I am looking forward to working with him.”

Everton extend Keane contract

Michael Keane has followed Jarrad Branthwaite in signing a contract extension with Everton. The centre-back’s previous deal ran out this summer, but he will be a Toffees player for at least one more year.

“I love Everton and have been massively proud to play for this club since the day I joined so I’m delighted to extend my stay here,” Keane said in a statement.

Leeds loan confirmed

Max Wober has joined Werder Bremen on a season-long loan, Leeds United have announced. The 27-year-old defender was seldom used by manager Daniel Farke during their promotion-winning campaign and the club have since brought in two new centre-backs.
