Como President Mirwan Suwarso says the club ‘did their best’ to give coach Cesc Fabregas what he needed in the January transfer window and hopes Nico Paz will remain at the Stadio Sinigaglia ‘forever.’
Suwarso discussed the club’s transfer strategy and their vision for the future in an interview with Sky Sport Italia.
“We hope that the investments made today will last for several years,” he said.
“Next season, don’t expect what we’ve done now because if we’ve worked well, we won’t have to go through this hectic period again for many seasons.
When asked about Como’s most exciting transfer in January, Suwarso initially replied with a joke: “I bought Vinicius in FIFA 25, that was exciting,” he said smiling.

“Jokes aside, I think every signing has been exciting. Every player was brought here with a specific goal in mind. I can’t pick just one; they all came here to fulfil a role in our game.”
There were reports that Como were interested in Theo Hernandez and Marcus Rashford last month, and Suwarso confirmed the Azzurri tried to sign some big names.
“We did our best to give our coach the players he needed for his style of football,” he said.
“We analyzed our needs, and when possible, we tried to take action. We gave it our best shot, but we know we are a small club, so some people still don’t take us seriously. When these big names hear about Como, they say: ‘No, I want to play in the Champions League or in Europe.’ That makes sense; we fully understand what we can and cannot do.
“But we dream. As human beings, that’s what keeps us moving forward. Every day, we look ahead to something bigger; we try to do better than the day before. So yes, we hope and believe this club can be competitive one day.”
Argentinean talent Nico Paz has been shining for Como this season. Although he joined the newly promoted Serie A side on a permanent transfer from Real Madrid last summer, the Merengues still have an option to re-sign him until 2026.
Suwarso, however, hopes it will never be activated.
“We all want Nico Paz to stay with us. Forever, if possible,” he said.
“We all want Cesc [Fabregas] to stay here forever; we want to stay here forever. Ambition must be strong, but things change, that’s life. We must be good at handling the challenges that come our way. For example, I’ve been married three times, if everything had gone well, I would have only done it once.”
