Leeds United continue their preparations for the upcoming season with a friendly tie against Spanish side Villarreal CF at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.
The encounter provides a fourth test of the summer, with Daniel Farke’s side beginning their schedule with a draw against Manchester United at Stockholm’s Strawberry Arena.
From there, the squad headed to Germany for a gruelling camp where they faced local sides SC Verl and SC Paderborn.
Forwards Joël Piroe, Willy Gnonto and Lukas Nmecha were on target in both matches, as the Whites won 4-1 and 3-2 respectively.
Alongside Nmecha, the match may offer fans a chance to see the club’s six fellow new signings in action at Elland Road for the first time.
With the Premier League opener against Everton rapidly approaching, Villarreal will offer a stern test for United having finished fifth in last season’s La Liga standings, qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.
So far this summer, Marcelino García Toral’s side have drawn with Swiss outfits FC Basel and St. Gallen, before being narrowly edged out by Sporting Lisbon last time out.
The teams have met previously, playing out an entertaining 2-2 draw in a 2021 friendly which saw Mateusz Klich and Patrick Bamford on the scoresheet at the LNER Community Stadium in York.
Tickets are still available and can be purchased below. Action from Elland Road gets underway at 3pm.
