Luton Town and Blackburn Rovers face off this Saturday at Kenilworth Road in the EFL Championship.
The Hatters are mired in the relegation places, currently have 40 points and lie in 23rd position, but the Bedfordshire club are still alive and kicking after their 1-1 draw with Stoke City last time out.
Blackburn, meanwhile, have won 53 points to date and sit 12th. Last time out, Valérien Ismaël's team equalised late to earn a 2-2 against Sheffield Wednesday.
The last meeting between the two teams, earlier in the season, ended with Blackburn winning 2-0.
Simon Holden (LutonTownExile): Luton followed up an excellent home point against Leeds with a solid point away at Stoke on Tuesday night. The overall performance was good again - no lack of fight, another good defensive display, and chances created.
After undeservedly going behind to a late wickedly deflected free kick, Town grabbed the initiative back before getting a well deserved injury time equaliser. Huge point in the circumstances against a fellow relegation candidate. Town need to use the momentum and positivity created by that late goal in their next two games. Back to back wins have seldom been needed more.
Blackburn’s visit to Kenilworth Road this weekend comes at a time when the visitors are rock bottom of the current form table. Luton need to take maximum advantage before a monumental six pointer away at Derby. They’ll have to do it without Adebayo and Doughty though which is not ideal. Can they beat Blackburn? I think they will by the odd goal in three.
Prediction: 2-1
Daniel Oliveira (Playmaker Stats Editor): Valérien Ismaël’s side had a rough start since taking over from John Eustace – seven games, no wins, two draws, and five defeats.
Blackburn did manage to stop the losing run midweek by coming from behind against Sheffield Wednesday – goals from Tyrhys Dolan and Yuki Ohashi helped them grab a point.
That stopped the losing run, but they’re still winless in eight overall, and their form on the road hasn’t helped either – just one win in their last eight away games.
With little left to play for and Luton still scrapping for points, it’s hard to see anything but a home win at Kenilworth Road.
