PSG’s plan to stage any Champions League title celebrations at the Champ-de-Mars has met resistance from Paris officials.

According to L'Équipe, a near two-hour meeting on Thursday afternoon brought together PSG, the police prefecture, the City of Paris and the affected arrondissement town halls.

If PSG become European champions again on Saturday in Budapest at 18:00, the club wants to celebrate at the Champ-de-Mars, close to the Eiffel Tower. The site could take more supporters than the Champs-Élysées, where last season capacity limits kept fans to one side of the avenue.

A participant described the exchanges as somewhat heated and said the City would have preferred the traditional Champs-Élysées to protect green spaces, including the Champ-de-Mars lawns. They noted the 8th arrondissement artery is paved and has few nearby residents. Local elected officials also regretted being informed late after PSG and the prefecture had already moved ahead with the venue choice.

It was also reiterated that PSG would cover all restoration costs for the Champ-de-Mars. A technical on-site meeting is scheduled for Monday morning for that purpose.
