The 2025-26 UEFA Champions League group stage is officially set, and PSG find themselves having one of the toughest matchups in the competition. After a sluggish start last season, the French champions will be eager to make a strong opening statement.
PSG face high-profile clashes against Bayern Munich and Barcelona, two fixtures that are sure to draw plenty of attention. Tottenham Hotspur also join the group, setting up a near-immediate rematch of their heated Super Cup showdown from just weeks ago.
The road ahead remains challenging. Newcastle United and Athletic Bilbao are in the mix, while Bayer Leverkusen, Atalanta, and Portuguese champions Sporting Lisbon stand between PSG and a place in the knockout stage.

In his latest column for Ensemble PSG, Zach Lowy, co-creator of Breaking The Lines and freelance football writer, put together a prediction piece for PSG in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League. PSG will face Barcelona on October 7, and Lowy believes that the Spanish side will come out victorious.
“PSG will return to action two weeks later and face off against Barcelona in Spain in what will be their 13th official meeting since the start of 2013,” Lowy wrote.
“They last competed in April 2024, with Barcelona prevailing 3-2 in the French capital and looking poised for a spot in the Champions League semifinals after taking the lead at home before falling to 10 men after a half-hour following Ronald Araujo’s red card. Ousmane Dembele would pull one back against his former side, whilst Vitinha and Kylian Mbappe scored in the second half to secure a 4-1 win.
“Since then, however, Barcelona have emerged as one of the finest teams in Europe under Hansi Flick, who replaced Xavi at the helm shortly after their quarterfinal elimination, with the club winning a domestic treble and nearly reaching the Champions League Final. With Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal working their magic in attack and Pedri pulling the strings in midfield, Barcelona might just be too hot to handle for PSG. Prediction: Loss (3-2).”
