Paris Saint-Germain have quietly opened the door for Marco Asensio (28) to leave this winter, according to a report from L’Équipe.
The Spanish international has never looked as if he has fully settled in the French capital since making the free transfer from Real Madrid ahead of the 2023/24 season. It had looked in the early days of his time in the club that he would be a reference point for Luis Enrique’s tactical system.
However, an injury saw his place in the team squandered and instead, he has been relied upon sporadically as his goals and assists (11 and 14 across both seasons) have never truly allowed him to become an indispensable figure for the club.
L’Équipe writes that several options in England and Spain have been explored, but there are difficulties. Principally, the issue lies in his salary demands, as Asensio reportedly commands a monthly wage of €830,000 at PSG.
