However, L’Equipe claims that Paris Saint-Germain are about to make a fourth bid for the Monaco man.
Liverpool could use a player of Akliouche’s ilk after Mohamed Salah moved on. The 24-year-old recorded six goals and six assists in 21 Ligue 1 appearances last season.
The Liverpool target delivered a goal and three assists in ten Champions League appearances.
He bagged seven goals and 12 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions the season before.
Akliouche is on the market as his club needs to generate €150 million, and he is one of their most valuable assets.
They reportedly want around €70m to let him go, and the European champions are inching closer, meaning Liverpool have to move rapidly to land him.
He is rated as one of Ligue 1’s most exciting operators.
Akliouche has emerged as one of Ligue 1’s most exciting operators thanks to his creativity, close control and ability to produce in the biggest games.
At around €70m, he also represents a relatively attainable signing in a market where elite attacking talent often commands far higher fees.
However, with PSG preparing another push, the Reds risk another priority target slipping away.
If Liverpool believe Akliouche has the quality to thrive, they must act decisively before the European champions win the race.
It will also be intriguing to see whether this move for Akliouche plays out as the Reds are also after Bradley Barcola.
