The January transfer window is right around the corner, and the first half of the campaign has allowed managers in the Championship to assess their sides and decide who may benefit from a loan move during the first few months of 2026.

For QPR, eyes are potentially on 19-year-old Australian youth international Daniel Bennie, who was a regular in the A-League for Perth Glory before he made the switch to Loftus Road in 2024.

After sporadic bench appearances in his first year with the Hoops, the exciting winger hasn't been able to make many inroads into the QPR side under Julien Stephan, with the majority of his appearances this season coming with the development side.

However, from the small bursts he's seen with Bennie in the first team, and what he's shown in the youth squad, since his arrival, FLW's QPR fan pundit, Louis Moir, believes that the 19-year-old is more than ready for an EFL loan to help him experience more senior football.

Moir felt that Bennie should have been sent out on loan in the summer, initially, but conceded that maybe QPR felt that the winger, who had turned 19 in April, needed some more time with the youth squads this season.

But after seeing what he can do in those sides during the first half of the campaign, the fan pundit believes that January will be the time for Bennie to make a short-term move.

"I think one player who maybe could've done with going out on loan in the summer was Daniel Bennie," he said.

"Maybe the club may have wanted him in the development team for the majority of this season and then wait until next summer to send him out on loan, with him being 19, but I think a loan move in January would be good.

"I like the potential of Bennie. I think he could be a really good player. He made a few appearances last season, and he was involved a lot in our pre-season. What he's doing in the development squad is on a different level from the other players in that team."

Bennie was playing regularly in the Australian top flight with Perth Glory as a 17-year-old during the 2023/24 campaign.

His side may have finished bottom that year, but they did so with the fifth-best attacking return in the division, which Bennie was a big part of. Now, Moir understands why he was so highly rated.

"There's just something that makes him stand out from the rest," he continued. "With him being 19, there's so much room for potential, and you can see why he was talked up so much in Australia when we signed him.

"So, a loan move would be crucial for him. I think it would be good to see him in League One or League Two, as he seems to have that physical side as well — he may be young, but he doesn't have far to go in terms of physical development.

"So physically he's there, and he has something technical about him too. I think he could be very good, and if he goes out on loan and does well, he's coming back only 20, 21 [years old], depending on when we loan him out.

"We could have a proper player there, and one to be excited about. There are many in the development squad, but he stands out for me, and I think we should send him out and see how he fares in men's football, because I think he could have a lot about him."

QPR right to be excited about Daniel Bennie

With the likes of Kwame Poku, Rumarn Burrell and Richard Kone among the Hoops ranks, there's plenty to rave about for QPR fans currently about the future of their attack.

Bennie adds to that, too, and if he does go out on loan this January, it perhaps won't be long until the rest of the EFL takes notice of yet another young star at Loftus Road ready to tear Championship defences apart.

Bennie scored his first senior goal for QPR in the EFL Cup against Plymouth Argyle earlier this season, proving that he can mix things up with senior defences in divisions below, so there'll be plenty of curious eyes to see what the 19-year-old can do if afforded a run out on loan for a side in the third or fourth tier.

Then, if he comes back Championship-ready, he'd be another feather in the already talented attacking bow that Julien Stephan's side owns.
