Queens Park Rangers midfielder Ilias Chair has endured a frustrating 2024/25 campaign.

The 27-year-old was ruled out for the first seven Championship games of the season with a back injury, before a knee injury forced him to miss a further five fixtures during November and December.

He enjoyed a consistent run in the side between December and March, but a hamstring injury then sidelined him for another six league games before he returned to action against Swansea City at Loftus Road last month.

The Morocco international featured regularly for the Rs throughout the previous five seasons, so he will no doubt hope to put this injury-hit campaign behind him as soon as possible, as he is a player who has the ability to be a huge part of any future success at QPR.

QPR must keep hold of "leader" Ilias Chair

We asked our QPR fan pundit, Louis Moir, which player he would really not want to see leave the club this summer, and he picked out Ilias Chair.

"I think the one player that we don't want to lose has got to be Ilias Chair," Louis said.

"Obviously, he signed a new deal, and there is no denying how much he loves it. He has spoken out so many times about how we have given him everything and stuff like that.

"That is not going to stop clubs that are interested in him potentially putting in offers. It is all well and good him signing on, but nowadays, it means nothing, and he could still potentially end up leaving in the summer if an offer came in that we could not refuse.

"I just think that, obviously, there are going to be a few outgoings in terms of certain players getting released, potentially ending up loaning out a couple, and maybe selling a couple.

"Chair is just that one, if he stays fit. Obviously, we missed him big time a lot this season for the massive spells during the campaign, but on his day, he is one of the best players in this division. Everything goes through him, he is so capable of so much more in terms of numbers - his goals and assists could be so much more than they have been.

"For me, if we lost him, it would be a big old chunk taken out of the team. I think he is a big leader now as well. He has been at the club for years, maturing, getting older. If we were to lose him it would be gutting.

"I am not too worried about it. I would just say he is the one player I would just not want to lose. Offers would have to come in, and they may not even come in, or offers might come in that are not good enough anyway.

"Fingers crossed he is still with us next season because if he stays fit, and we try and improve on what we have done this season, he will be a huge part of that and any success we may have."

QPR are in a good position with Chair

While Louis is right to be concerned that other clubs may be interested in a player of Chair's quality this summer, QPR are in a strong position when it comes to the 27-year-old.

He penned a new long-term contract at Loftus Road in January, so it would take a significant offer for another club to take him away from West London.

It also appeared as though the player was fully committed to QPR during an interview on the official club website after he signed his new deal.

"This is the only club I know and I am delighted," Chair said.

"QPR has been the staple in my life and that is something beautiful. I am just so happy to keep going.

"I can't wait to have more unbelievable moments at this club."
