Rangers lose another one as Creag Robertson quits | OneFootball

As most Rangers fans will probably know by now, Director of Football Operations Creag Robertson joins the increasing list of high-profile exits from Rangers’ management sector, added to CEO James Bisgrove, Chairman John Bennett, and the continuing lack of a Sporting Director.

This now means Rangers lack (or will lack) a permanent chairman, a CEO, a Director of Football Operations and a Sporting Director, widely regarded as four of the most important positions at a football club.

To say Rangers are in crisis is maybe slightly overselling it, but it’s a long, long way from ideal.

Acting chairman John Gilligan disputed the claims that Rangers were headed back to 2015 territory, by suggesting the club was an absolute mess when he and the Three Bears took over after the success at the EGM, and that this situation is nowhere near that.

Well, he would say that, wouldn’t he? He’s been appointed by this board, or what’s left of it, so he can’t be critical of the club’s state as a result of this and previous boards, but he will be patently aware the state of affairs at Ibrox is a long way from healthy.

And of course the claim in general, especially by your friends at Ibrox Noise, was specifically that the club was going in the direction of 2015, not that we were equal to it now or worse off.

And with Roberton’s impending exit (he’s quit to ‘pursue other opportunities’) that only affirms the mess the corporate structure is in, with no leadership whatsoever.

Indeed, that ‘pursue other opportunities’ clause basically usually means he’s had enough at Ibrox already – not that he’s been headhunted specifically, just that he wants out of this current job.

Time will tell if he does have something else lined up but his imminent departure just adds to Rangers’ current corporate shambles.

What next for Rangers fans (and the club as a whole) to deal with?
