Roma boss Claudio Ranieri discussed his selection of the starting XI prior to tonight’s kick-off with AZ Alkmaar.
In his pre-match interview with Sky Sport, Ranieri explained his insistence on starting Paulo Dybala.
“Since I arrived he has always been available. He is well and for me when he is well he plays, no questions asked,” he said.
“As long as he is like this he will continue to play.”
“Celik? Mancini wasn’t doing so well this morning, it seemed more logical to me to put Celik because Alkmaar have two very fast wingers.”
“I chose Celik to try to stop at least one of their two wingers.”
“We have to win, play our game and I hope the boys do what we have studied during the week.”
“Tonight we have to be good at moving the ball, making two or three touches and going vertical.”
