Raphinha has suffered a right hamstring injury at the World Cup, and Brazil will try to keep him involved through intensive treatment. The Barcelona winger is staying with the squad after scans in the United States.
The federation announced that imaging confirmed a muscular problem in the back of his right thigh, and that he will follow an intensive treatment plan under the national team medics with the aim of an early return. No timeframe was given.
He crouched down in the 40th minute of Brazil’s second group game, a comfortable win over Haiti, then indicated to Vinicius he could not continue and left slowly. It is his fifth hamstring issue of the season after four previous setbacks at Barcelona.
It appeared similar to the biceps femoris injury sustained against France in a friendly, which kept him out for a little over a month. He missed six matches, including both legs of the Champions League quarter-final against Atlético.
His hamstrings have dogged him across the campaign, including a two-month layoff after a September injury and a later overload that cost him three more games. Despite that, he finished the season with 21 goals and 8 assists.
