Raul Jimenez, wearing a headband, headed in on 67 minutes to put Mexico 2-0 up against South Africa in the 2026 World Cup opener at the Azteca, with a man advantage.
According to L'Équipe, Mexico are among the three hosts of the tournament, which runs from 11 June to 19 July, alongside Canada and the USA.

Before Jimenez struck, El Tri had taken the lead through Julian Quinonez.
The striker had not scored at his previous World Cups in 2014, 2018 and 2022, making this his first goal at the finals.
The 35-year-old’s effort also moved him level with Jared Borgetti for second on Mexico’s all-time scoring list on 46 goals.
