Raúl to be replaced by another ex-Real Madrid star as Castilla manager | OneFootball

Real Madrid legend Raúl González will step down from his role as the manager of the club’s Castilla outfit upon the season’s close.

As much has been confirmed by Marca on Wednesday.

As per the report:

‘The decision has already been made and communicated, as has his successor in the position.’

The individual set to take over from Raúl as headmaster of Real Madrid’s reserve team also spent a significant chunk of his playing days on the books of Los Blancos, in Álvaro Arbeloa.

Ex-defender Arbeloa has spent recent years learning his managerial trade with Real’s Juvenil A side.

Turning attentions towards what lies ahead for Raúl, two options are currently understood to be on the table for the 47-year-old.

The first would involve making the step up to first-team level, as a member of Carlo Ancelotti’s coaching staff.

The other would come in the boardroom, where Raúl could take on a more executive level role in the academy setup in the Spanish capital.
