Rayan Lucas is unlikely to remain at Sporting once his loan ends, with the option to buy not expected to be triggered, according to A Bola. The 21-year-old midfielder could bolster Flamengo’s squad in the second half of the year.

Loaned from Flamengo for 12 months last season, Rayan has not convinced the Portuguese club to take up their clause, valued at four million euros, roughly R$ 23 million.

His Flamengo contract runs to the end of 2028, while the Sporting loan expires next month. Any announcement is set to come only after the Taça de Portugal final, when Sporting face Torreense.

The report said Rayan arrived with high expectations, stepped up from the B team to the seniors, then lost momentum. He played 22 matches with one assist for the B side and made a single first-team appearance.

A regular for Brazil’s youth sides and regarded as a Flamengo prospect, he renewed with a 50 million euro release clause for overseas clubs, close to R$ 300 million at current rates.

Rayan has eight senior outings for Flamengo, four in 2024 and four last year. At under-20 level he won two Libertadores, one Mundial and one Brasileiro, and at under-17 he lifted the Copa do Brasil. He also survived the Ninho do Urubu fire in 2019.
