Europe, we’re back! At the 11th attempt, RB Leipzig finally picked up their first win in Frankfurt, earning three hugely important points in the race for Champions League qualification. The victory moves the Red Bulls temporarily up to third place on 59 points – and it also means a place in European competition is already secured for next season.
Leipzig made a bright start and deservedly went in front in the first half through Yan Diomande. The winger found the net in style, finishing with real composure and precision to make it 1-0 (27’).
Eintracht hit back before the break, though. Hugo Larsson grabbed an equaliser almost out of nowhere to level it at 1-1 (34’).
But RBL stayed calm, took control after the restart and pinned Frankfurt back in their own half.
Antonio Nusa restored the lead first with a thunderous strike from the edge of the box (70’). Soon after, Conrad Harder put the result beyond doubt after a brilliant move involving David Raum and Nusa, making it 3-1 (81’).
In the end, it was a deserved away win for the boys, who celebrated wildly with the travelling fans afterwards.
