Real Betis have reportedly agreed a new deal with Manchester United over the terms of Antony’s sell-on clause.
United were poised to receive a 50 per cent cut of any fee for the Brazilian in the future.
But after successfully renegotiating the terms, the Spanish outfit are now only required to give the Red Devils a 50 per cent of any profit they make on the player going forward, per the Sunday Mirror (September 7, Page 67).
The financials for Antony’s deal could reach up to £22.5 million if all add-ons are met.
It has emerged that Betis will be paying that sum in installments – around £3.9m per year over the course of the forward’s five-year contract.
But the amount will rise by approximately £435k per year if the club qualifies for the Champions League or they win a European title.
Antony came to United in 2022 from Ajax in a staggering £85m deal.
He scored three goals in his first three games for the English giants, but his subsequent displays have only proved the club made a huge mistake by shelling out a £85m fee.
The Brazil international made 96 appearances across all competitions, managing just 12 goals and five assists.
He revived his career in Spain after joining Betis on loan for the second half of last season, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 26 games.
Antony will now hope to make a similar impact after joining Los Verdiblancos on a permanent deal.
