Real Madrid’s injury crisis has opened up doors many never even dreamt possible. Raul Asencio is one such player who has risen as a hero amid the crisis and Dani Ceballos is now staking claim as another.
The Spanish midfielder appeared to be out of the manager’s plans and was struggling for minutes.
Yet, he got his opportunity given the injuries to Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga and has made the most of the minutes granted to him by the manager.
As revealed by Mundo Deportivo, Ceballos has truly impressed with his performances in recent games, especially after featuring as a starter in Real Madrid’s last two league matches.
His rise to prominence comes directly in the place of Luka Modric, of whom he is ahead now in the manager’s pecking order.

The veteran club captain has indeed been in decent touch for Los Blancos this season. His performance at Anfield, however, was far from good enough and has given Ceballos a chance to prove his worth,
As relayed by the Spanish outlet, all signs point to the Spaniard continuing as Real Madrid’s starting midfield option against Athletic Club and Girona where he will likely be joined by Federico Valverde, Jude Bellingham and Aurelien Tchouameni.
Starting against Getafe, the Spaniard racked up 110 passes, made one key pass and completed 94% of his passes. He also won seven duels and completed six long balls.
The coming weeks will thus be crucial for Ceballos to solidify his place in Ancelotti’s plans for it is the first time he is ahead of Modric in the manager’s preference list in years. It remains to be seen what impact it has on Arda Guler’s playing time as well.
